Well, isn’t this just fascinating?
This is my very first blog as an aspiring author. Being someone that wants to get into the field of all these prestigious, incredible authors, I was given some advice from someone I very much admire to start a blog. And there you have it.
I’m going to start out by saying that I am an avid, almost addictive, book purchaser (and reader, of course). My friends tell me that I can spot a bookstore in a new city from ten miles away (of course, it helps when I know where our destination is, because I usually Google where the best bookstores are in said city). There are probably over 200 books in my house and yet, like most avid book readers, my too-be-read list keeps growing. It’s rather hilarious. And daunting.
Therefore, I’ve decided that while I’m in the process of writing (and finishing) my first novel and am also in the process of going through some pretty large changes in my life, I should tackle all of those lonely books on my bookshelf that haven’t seen any love since I bought them and use this blog to write my thoughts/reviews about said books. I’m going to attempt to cut back on my book purchasing and just work on the books that I already have. Honestly, a couple of hours ago, I bought two books. And a day before that, two other books.
“She is too fond of books, and it has addled her brain.”
– Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
This blog will probably also serve as my intervention, I suppose.
Anyways, I’m going to be reading the books that I already have in my possession and am going to avoid purchasing new ones. With the exception of the new Mercy Thompson book and The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling. I really don’t need to explain my reasoning for that last one, do I?
This will be an interesting journey. Both breaking down all of my books I have neglected and starting my first serious book. I hope that you find these posts to come interesting and that you will follow me on this adventure. Thank you so much.
